I’m Jacob Seavey, Music Director for WMHW-FM’s Mountain 91.5 The Summit of Sound. Every week I add new alternative music from both well-known, and up and coming artists for you to enjoy.
I have been working with WMHW for three years, this being my second on Executive Staff. I started out on music staff and being on-air– learning as much as I can about radio. Last year I held the position of Production Director, producing underwriting, promos, and sweepers for both 91.5 and our sister station, 101.1 The Beat. I hosted a pop punk specialty show called Pop Rocks & Coke also.
A senior at CMU, I will be graduating this coming December with a B.A.A in Broadcast & Cinematic Arts, with minors in Multimedia Design, and Advertising. I will be sad to say goodbye to my close friends and memories I have made at WMHW. I can say, I wouldn’t have the passion or knowledge towards radio without them.
Besides radio, I enjoy photography and playing in my pop punk band; Car Crash Rhetoric. Landscape and concert photography is where my passion lies. I feel that Michigan is gorgeous and is very diverse in its landscapes. Next summer I plan to take a trip around Michigan in my van and explore a lot of state land and national parks to take pictures. As far as concert photography– I have just gotten into that this past year. Through playing gigs with my band, we’ve met a lot of other bands. So usually after our set, I’ll break out my camera and get some practice shooting. I think I am going to try and start shooting gigs as freelance, but try to stay as affordable for bands as possible. It’s not easy being an upcoming band and being able to market yourselves for an affordable rate. I’d like to make a difference in people’s lives and give them professional images that they don’t have to sell all their gear to get.
